IAF Agniveervayu Non-Combatant Selection Process 2026

Candidates whose applications are accepted will be issued admit cards for the written test, which will state the date, location, and time of the test. The selection process has four phases:

Phase I – Written Test

The written test is common for both streams and will be conducted at the station/location where the candidate submitted the application.

SubjectMarksMinimum Pass Marks
General English (Class 10th level)155
General Knowledge (Class 10th level)155
Total3015 (50% of aggregate)

Candidates reporting for the written test must carry their Aadhaar card (candidates from Jammu & Kashmir, Assam, and Meghalaya may carry another valid ID if they do not have an Aadhaar card), a character certificate signed by a Gazetted Officer/Panchayat Officer/School Principal/College Principal (not older than 6 months, with office seal), the original 10th/Matriculation passing certificate (or a DigiLocker-verified printout), the original 10th marksheet, and an experience certificate if any. Candidates found using unfair means, carrying prohibited electronic devices, or engaging in impersonation will be debarred permanently from Agniveervayu Non-Combatant selection tests.

Phase II – Physical Fitness Test (PFT)

Only candidates who pass the written test are permitted to appear for PFT, which is common and qualifying for both streams.

  • Height Check: Minimum acceptable height 152 cm; candidates below this are disqualified from further tests.
  • PFT-I: A 1.6 km run to be completed within 7 minutes (additional time is given at high altitude: nil up to 5,000 feet, +30 seconds from 5,001โ€“9,000 feet, +120 seconds from 9,001โ€“12,000 feet).
  • PFT-II: 10 push-ups, 10 sit-ups, and 20 squats, each to be completed within 1 minute, with rest breaks of 10 minutes (after the run), 2 minutes (after push-ups), and 2 minutes (after sit-ups) between tests.

Phase III – Stream Suitability Test (SST)

The SST is qualifying in nature. Candidates must be willing to undergo training and perform any task associated with their opted stream; unwillingness to perform a task leads to disqualification in SST. For the Hospitality stream, candidates are assessed on cooking-related skills, kitchen sanitation and hygiene, serving food/water/beverages, personal hygiene, and knowledge of kitchen fire/safety precautions. For the Housekeeping stream, candidates are assessed on sweeping floors/cleaning bathrooms, cutting grass/watering gardens/digging trenches, washing utensils, and demonstrated ability in at least one of washing and ironing clothes, hair cutting/dressing/shampooing, stitching of leather items, or tailoring/pattern-cutting skills.

Phase IV – Medical Examination

A certain number of candidates who qualify in SST, as per merit, undergo a medical examination by the Air Force Medical team as per IAF medical standards. This includes baseline investigations such as Blood Haemogram (Hb, TLC, DLC, Platelets), Urine RE/ME, Biochemistry (blood sugar fasting and post-prandial, serum cholesterol, RFT, LFT), chest radiograph (PA view), ECG, and any other investigation the Recruiting Medical Officer considers necessary. The Recruiting Medical Officer and Armed Forces specialist doctors are the final authority on fitness; there is no provision for representation or review after a candidate is declared unfit.
